Supporting People with a Learning Disability and Autistic people with a forensic history
Overview:
NHS England and the Ministry of Justice share distinct yet interconnected roles in supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people within the health and justice systems.
This webinar aims to foster collaboration between professionals from both systems, enhancing mutual understanding and promoting informed decision-making to support people effectively.
Aims of the Webinar:
- Provide information for casework teams on how learning disability and autism impact people’s understanding of their offences and conditions.
- Equip commissioners and clinicians with insights into the casework section’s role and how to develop strong, well-evidenced leave or discharge applications.
- Offer valuable lived experience insights from people who have been discharged, reflecting on their journey and its impact on their lives.
Target Audience:
This webinar is designed for professionals working within the NHS and the Ministry of Justice, including commissioners, clinicians, caseworkers, and decision-makers involved in the assessment and care of people with a learning disability and autistic people who have a forensic history.
