We are excited to invite you to the East of England AI Forum, a new initiative developed in collaboration between the NHS England East Digital Transformation Team and Health Innovation East. The forum intends to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among digital leaders to support and champion the responsible adoption of AI in healthcare.  We are hosting a series of monthly webinars starting from April 2025 designed to explore key AI-related topics, “from opportunity to procurement”, featuring subject matter experts and content that is credible, practical, and grounded in real-world experience.

Up coming session

Is AI a tool for equity or a driver of disparity?"

This session will cover the dual role of AI in healthcare, exploring whether it acts as a tool for equity or a driver of disparity.

Learning outcomes:

  •  Understand the potential benefits and risks of AI in healthcare, particularly related to health equity.
  •  Identify common sources of bias in AI systems, including data collection, model design, and implementation.
  •  Explore strategies to mitigate bias and promote fairness in AI-driven healthcare solutions.
  •  Discuss practical steps for ensuring AI innovation leads to more equitable, effective, and transparent healthcare systems.

Our subject matter expert will be Maxine Mackintosh.

Maxine works at the intersection of data science, AI, health equity, and genomics. She co-founded One HealthTech, a global community championing diversity in health innovation, and Data Science for Health Equity, which applies cutting-edge data science to tackle health inequalities. She is also a researcher at the Alan Turing Institute and previously led a national UK programme focused on improving diversity in genomic data.

This interactive session will include dedicated time for questions and group discussion, offering a great opportunity to engage with peers and deepen your understanding of AI in healthcare.
