Lunch and Learn: Staff Wellbeing in Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care (ETOC)

NHS England’s Nursing Directorate will host its third Lunch and Learn session, on 13 August 2025, from 12:30pm to 1:15pm, focusing on the importance of supporting staff wellbeing—particularly in the context of delivering Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care (ETOC).

The session will be chaired by Jane Avery, Clinical Workforce Lead at the CNO Safer Staffing Faculty. Jane is passionate about this topic and will share her insights alongside speakers:

• Emma Wadey, Chief Nursing Officer, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust
• Eileen Aylott, Head of Nursing and Midwifery, Multi-professional Workforce and Education Team, North East and Yorkshire

During the session, speakers will discuss why staff wellbeing is essential, especially for those delivering ETOC, and share perspectives on what’s happening at trust and regional level.

This Lunch and Learn is designed to encourage thinking around how we support staff wellbeing in this context, and why getting it right is so important.

The session will close with an open discussion and opportunity to share your own insights, experiences, or questions with the panel.
