GIRFT’s national review of paediatric rheumatology services: learning and next steps

Hosted by Lesley Kay, GIRFT rheumatology joint clinical lead and NHS England’s National Clinical Director for MSK, this webinar will discuss learnings and next steps from the GIRFT national review of paediatric rheumatology services.

The GIRFT review process began in March 2024, aiming to develop national pathways, share best practice and extend support to centres facing challenges, with a particular focus on the variation in transition and transfer pathways for inflammatory conditions, as well as on workforce and operational efficiency.

Dr Gavin Cleary and Dr Flora McErlane, GIRFT’s paediatric rheumatology joint clinical leads, will be joined by colleagues Catherine Tranter (paediatric specialist nurse at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital), Claire Pidgeon (occupational therapist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital) and Ginny Ward (physiotherapist at Bristol Children’s Hospital) to outline their findings from the review, and to share recommendations for improving the care of inflammatory and non-inflammatory paediatric rheumatology patients.

Topics for discussion will include access to care (from hospital to community), the outcomes of care (from sickness to prevention) and their findings on data capture and reporting.

The joining link will be sent to you by separate email nearer the event date.
