This webinar from the national Children & Young People's (CYP) Mental Health and Learning Disability & Autism teams will demonstrate how systems can make reasonable adjustments in mental health crisis care to meet the needs of autistic children and young people, and those with a learning disability.
In the event we will:
- highlight relevant national policy and guidance including Urgent and emergency mental health care for children and young people: national implementation guidance, Dynamic support register and Care (Education) and Treatment Review policy and guidance, and the role of keyworkers,
- demonstrate how children's crisis mental health teams are working with other services and adapating the four functions of a comprehensive crisis offer to meet the needs of autistic CYP and those with a learning disability, reducing attendances in emergency departments, avoiding inappropriate admission to hospital and reducing lengths of stay in hospital,
- hear from three CYP mental health providers who will present good practice examples of how they have adapted their crisis pathways, and what this means for the children, young people and families they support,
- provide opportunity for questions and discussion.
