Enhanced Therapeutic Observations and Care (ETOC) lunch and learn series: Education and training

Join the Nursing Directorate’s Workforce Team between 12:30pm - 1:15pm on Thursday 22 January for the eighth lunch and learn session in our enhanced therapeutic observations and care (ETOC) series.  

This interactive session will build on our recent education and training webinar.  

Speakers will share practical examples of reducing variation and improving quality, safety, and therapeutic outcomes through effective education and training. 

We will also introduce the NHS England ETOC programme education and training improvement guide, enabling organisations to review or build ETOC education and training provision and embed support mechanisms for all staff. It leverages tested examples to ensure staff confidence and competence, leading to safer, more therapeutic, and consistent enhanced care.

The event will conclude with an open discussion giving you the opportunity to share your insights, experiences, and questions with our expert panel. 

About the Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC) programme 

Demand for Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC), often referred to as enhanced care, 1:1’s or specialling, has increased due to our aging population and complexity of patient presentation. Nursing leaders report the need to identify innovative workforce models to ensure that patient safety and experience can be maintained in the most appropriate way. 
 
NHS England's Nursing Directorate's Workforce Team, in collaboration with Safer Staffing colleagues, have launched a programme of work which aims to support systems to develop and improve their approach to how enhanced therapeutic observations and care is assessed and provided, with patient safety and experience at the centre.
