Paperless Digital Phlebotomy

6 January 2026 1:00pm – 1:45pmGMT (+00:00)
Virtual (Microsoft Teams)

Join us for this Lunch and Learn session where Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust will share the challenges of wasted resources for phlebotomy and sample collection. Patients face frustration when not able to attend where and when they want, staff frustrated to not easily and quickly find and process orders, and lab staff and admins tired of wasting valuable time and resources on duplicates, relabelling, and lost samples.

Digital Phlebotomy and pre-analytics can help you manage all these issues. Salutare ONE Testing can be delivered within weeks and return cash savings and benefits in the first year already. It is listed in the NHS Digital Blueprint with models for benefits and easy deployment. Salutare are also pioneering use cases for pre-labelled tubes to make sample collection even easier, cheaper, and more easily rolled across the community.

With DDC programme refreshed, digital phlebotomy can help you meet the 10-year plan goals:

1) From Hospital to Community

2) From Analogue to Digital

  1. in-year savings, patients can choose a community setting for their blood tests using a Digital Blood Form, without the need for paper.
  2. Reception staff reduction - cash saving and releasing.  Staff re-deployed to more skilled and productive projects
  3. Deduplication of tests - a minimal 2% - 3% saving on the overall budget
  4. Appointments not wasted due to 'no form' - Trusts tell us up to 20% of appointments are wasted
  5. Phlebotomist time saved (>20%), means more patients can be seen and your wait lists become shorter
  6. Pre-labelled tubes - completely remove paper and printing from your infrastructure and costs; make sample collection possible anywhere
