Developing and implementing breast pain pathways
Tracey Irvine, GIRFT clinical lead for breast surgery, is hosting this meeting to discuss the development, implementation and evaluation of breast pain pathways.
In this session, we will hear from the following clinicians who have developed new and innovative pathways:
- Mark Sibbering, consultant breast surgeon at University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS FT, who will discuss the East Midlands breast pain pathway and show how it improves patient experience and frees capacity in secondary care diagnostic breast clinics, by managing women with breast pain only in a community setting.
- Clare Garnsey, consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, who will present the challenges and outcomes of setting up a regional breast pain pathway in Greater Manchester.
We will also hear from Jennifer Hu, consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, who will present on the ASPIRE project (a breast pain pathway rapid evaluation project, run by the Association of Breast Surgery).
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions on the implementation of a best practice pathway.
