Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC) webinar: HCSWs and therapeutic practice
Join the Nursing Directorate's Workforce Team from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026 for the nineteenth webinar in our enhanced therapeutic observations and care (ETOC) series.
The session will focus on therapeutic practice within ETOC provision, as well as the importance of a person-centred approach to ensure care is holistic and improves patient outcomes and experience.
The webinar will spotlight how organisations are adopting safe, effective and tailored support to patient's who require additional support.
The session will be chaired by Michelle Churchard, Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, who will be joined by colleagues from other NHS organisations who will share their experiences and learning in this space.
We recognise that the examples shared throughout this webinar may not be directly applicable to your organisation and that everyone may be at varying places in their journey, however we are hoping this webinar will inspire you to think differently.
This event will be useful for anyone within your organisation responsible for the provision and monitoring of ETOC, including but not limited to nursing teams, ETOC teams, nursing workforce leads and staffing leads.
About the Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC) programme
Demand for Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care (ETOC), often referred to as enhanced care, 1:1’s or specialling, has increased due to our aging population and complexity of patient presentation. Nursing leaders report the need to identify innovative workforce models to ensure that patient safety and experience can be maintained in the most appropriate way.
NHS England's Nursing Directorate's Workforce Team, in collaboration with Safer Staffing colleagues, have launched a programme of work which aims to support systems to develop and improve their approach to how enhanced therapeutic observations and care is assessed and provided, with patient safety and experience at the centre.
