Can AI detect Parkinson's Disease?

12 October 2022 11:00am – 12:00pmBST (+01:00)
Virtual (Microsoft Teams)

Join the NHS AI Lab's Skunkworks team to hear about their latest project, which has been exploring the possibility of AI detecting Parkinson's disease from digital images of brain slices from Parkinson's UK's Brain Bank.

Currently, there is no test to diagnose Parkinson's disease. It is a clinical evaluation, which often happens once the symptoms are advanced. However, pathologists have been able to detect it from brain slices from patients who have donated their brains to medical science once they have died.

The Skunkworks team partnered with Parkinson's UK to investigate if AI could see signs of Parkinson's in images of brain slices, and accelerate research into it. Join our webinar to find out.

Speakers will include Prof David Dexter from Parkinsons UK, Dr Peter Coetzee and Dr Brad Pearce from Polygeist, as well as Giuseppe Sollazzo, Deputy Director of the NHS AI Lab.
