Carers Week 2025- Older Carers Webinar

Carers Week is held annually and this year, it starts from June 9-15 in 2025. It raises awareness of the challenges unpaid carers face and celebrates their vital contributions to families and communities.

The week aims to help people identify as carers, understand available support, and encourage them to seek help. While focused on the UK, the issues carers face are global, particularly in countries with less support. This year the theme is 'Caring About Equality' highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health.

The NHS England Unpaid Carers team will be running a series of webinars during the week to highlight the importance of identifying and supporting unpaid carers.

Our fifth session of the week under the theme Older Carers is Implementing carers health checks for families of patients with Dementia. This presentation by Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) will focus on how the benefits of implementing carer health checks for carers/families of patients with dementia.

This session will also address:

  • A new way to support unpaid Carers who are caring for those within Dementia, Frailty and Older Adult’s Mental Health Services in South East Essex.
  • Integrated with health, adult social care and community services, the team focus on Carers physical, mental, social and emotional health with personalised interventions to suit their caring role.

This will be presented by:

  • Nancy Smith – Carers Intensive Support Lead Integrated Practice Support Officer and 
  • Jen Marshall – Carers Intensive Support Worker

Kim Clark, the Patient Experience and Quality Senior Manager with NHS England- East of England, will be chairing the session.

Note that registration opens at 5pm on 14th May and closes on Thursday 12th June at 5pm.
