Carers Week 2025- Work and Employment Webinar

11 June 2025 2:00pm – 3:00pmBST (+01:00)
Location TBC

Carers Week is held annually and this year, it starts from June 9-15 in 2025. It raises awareness of the challenges unpaid carers face and celebrates their vital contributions to families and communities.

The week aims to help people identify as carers, understand available support, and encourage them to seek help. While focused on the UK, the issues carers face are global, particularly in countries with less support. This year the theme is 'Caring About Equality' highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health.

The NHS England Unpaid Carers team will be running a series of webinars during the week to highlight the importance of identifying and supporting unpaid carers.

Our third session of the week under the theme Work and Employment is Become a Carer Friendly Employer - Supporting Unpaid Carers in the Workplace. Derbyshire Carers Association’s Carers in Employment project aims to work with and support local employers to become carer friendly workplaces. They will look at the pathway to achieving their quality mark and hear from an employer and employee who have benefitted from this project.

This will be presented by:

  • Jude Boyle, Commissioning Manager (Carers & Advocacy), Adult Social Care and Health, Derbyshire County Council
  • Jayne Davies, Employer Engagement Lead, Derbyshire Carers Association
  • Amanda Rawlings, Chief People Officer, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
  • Jemma Walker, Carers Network Lead, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust

Cathie Cunnington, Complaints/Carers/Patient Experience Senior Manager, NHS England in the Midlands, will be chairing the session.

Note that registration opens at 5pm on 14th May and closes on Tuesday 10th June at 5pm.

Please do share with your networks, the agenda and link to webinar will follow later.
