Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Conference

Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for England and Chief Medical Advisor to the UK government, will present the keynote address at Dr Keith Ridge's annual conference on 15 March 2018. Dame Sally advocates globally on anti-microbial resistance and will share her expertise and experience with delegates at the conference, with a particular focus on looking to the future and the role that pharmacy will play.

The conference will also hear from Canadian researcher Lisa McCarthy who will update the conference about her experience of developing and maintaining the Canadian Deprescribing Network and the challenge of changing the culture surrounding prescribing and medicines use.

We will also explore the role of pharmacy education and leadership in improving patient safety with a presentation by Professor Peter Kopelman, Principal of St George's, University of London, who will be joined by representatives of NHS England and NHS Improvement, the General Pharmaceutical Council, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK for a panel discussion when delegates will be encouraged to share their views.

In the afternoon a series of workshops will focus on the challenges and opportunities for delivering quality and safety in pharmacy practice.
