Commitment to Carers Programme Mind The Gap Celebratory and Next Steps Event
The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) makes clear a need to tackle health inequalities, prevent illness and meet unmet need for people and communities who have been left behind. There is a clear commitment within The LTP to identify and support carers from vulnerable communities.
The Commitment to Carers Mind the Gap project was launched to support systems to scope and embed what matters most to carers from vulnerable communities and share learning, with a view to implementing recommendations and so deliver on the LTP commitment.
We have 9 sites who are embedding learnings from the scoping work in 2021/22. All 9 sites will be presenting their findings and recommendations at our Celebratory and Next Steps Event on 21st June, 11:00am-13:00pm.
The event will be chaired by Dr Neil Churchill OBE, Director, Experience, Participation and Equalities, NHSE/I and will also include carers sharing their experiences on what difference the projects have made to their caring roles. Below are the communities we have been working with:
- Young Carers
- Drug and alcohol dependence
- Autism Carers
- Veteran Carers
- Lesser heard carers (Asylum Seekers & Refugees and Asian)
