Community Multi-agency Discharge Events (MaDE) and Winter Planning
Following on from the positive feedback to our ‘Resources and good practice in community beds’ event earlier this year, we are committed to continuing to showcase good practice - something lots of attendees asked to see more of - supporting systems to network with peers, and facilitating the sharing of practical tools, resources and expertise.
Understanding that workloads and system pressures don’t always allow for attendance at longer sessions, we will be delivering a series of bitesize events over the coming months, aimed at NHS community trust colleagues and partner organisations/services.
The first session will focus on Community Multi-agency Discharge Events (MaDE) and winter planning, taking place virtually on Thursday 11 September 2025, 11:30am-12:30pm.
We will be joined by NHS England Deputy Director of UEC Improvement, Leigh Forsyth, to hear about how to organise and run your own Community Multi-agency Discharge Event (MaDE) to improve system flow ahead of winter.
We’ll also be joined by leads from the Intermediate Care team and Community Beds Programme to share system and provider insight on the actions that have the greatest impact on capacity and flow over winter.
Once registered, you will be sent a joining link a week before the event. Please select the ‘Add to calendar’ button to add the event to your diary.
Plans for the series of sessions is set out below, and we also are keen to hear what colleagues would like to be included and discussed, including examples of good practice that can be shared more widely, so please do get in touch if you have any suggestions:
- September: Improvement focus – Community MaDE and winter planning
- October: Intermediate Care data collection – support for data submitters
- October: Good practice in community beds showcased by system and provider colleagues
- November: Improvement support – bed modelling
- February: Good practice in community beds showcased by system and provider colleagues
- April: Good practice in community beds showcased by system and provider colleagues
- May: 2026 national Community Bed Audit findings
Please note that dates and details have not yet been agreed for all sessions, and further information will be added to the Community Beds pages on Future NHS as the plans develop. We will ensure we deliver these sessions on different weekdays to allow for various working patterns, and they will be recorded and available for later viewing.
