Comprehensive Assessment of At Risk Mental States (CAARMS) Follow Up Training

Follow up to the CAARMS “train the trainer” training in order that delegates achieve the necessary level of ongoing competency. Delegates need to attend at least 2 of the 3 follow-up days (e.g. 15 taught hours) in addition to being assessed. Further follow up sessions will be in January and March 2018.
ATTAINING COMPETENCY LEVEL
To achieve the necessary level of ongoing competency, delegates need to attend at least 2 of the 3 follow-up days (e.g. 15 taught hours) in addition to being assessed with a requirement that they
1. Demonstrate an ongoing ability to carry out an assessment in a therapeutic manner and score clinical information accordingly on the CAARMS subscales.
a. Scoring within certain limits (within on point of gold standard on intensity but no discrepancy on the frequency score)
2. Allocate people to the correct outcome in order to ensure people are placed on the appropriate EIP pathway.
a. Vignette is placed within the right group (UHR, FEP, below)
b. SOFAS reduction or long-term low functioning is detected
Demonstrate key skills in the training and supervision of others using the CAARMS.
Assessment for areas 1 and 2 will be based on submitted vignettes at the end of days 4, 5 and 6 and will be marked within a week of the course on the above criteria
