Costing showcase - Introduction to GIRFT

This is the first of our costing showcases, an occasional series of presentations from external teams whose work impacts, or is based on, the wider world of costing.

We will be looking at the Getting It Right First Time programme, an NHS England initiative which is leading the way in transforming the landscape of medical care by reducing unwarranted variations.

GIRFT is a national programme designed to improve the treatment and care of patients through in-depth review of services, benchmarking, and presenting a data-driven evidence base to support change. By tackling variations in service delivery and sharing best practices among NHS trusts, GIRFT identifies changes that improve patient outcomes, boost efficiency, and save costs.

This session will give an overview of the work they do and how costing data relates to the programme. The presenter is Maddy Connolly, deputy director of clinical and financial information.
