Case studies allow us to communicate examples of good practice across the NHS. They help to tell our story through real life scenarios of how we overcame challenges and achieved success.  There are various types of case studies, including, but not limited to:

  • patients’ stories to highlight the issue or condition and the subsequent care they received
  • staff stories to highlight different roles within the NHS – recruitment type stories, best practice examples of teamwork and staff-led initiatives
  • new campaigns and policies such as Martha’s Rule and Oliver McGowan statutory training, to demonstrate improvements to the provision of care.
  • new services, such as women’s health hubs in ICBs, to profile the services on offer and how they benefit patients
  • They can be used across multiple channels such as social media, websites, publications, newsletters and in presentations
  • What does good look like
  • Presentation - visual and textual
  • How to structure your case study
