Elective hubs: data and improvement masterclass

GIRFT is leading the elective surgical hub programme across England and is hosting a series of masterclasses to help maximise operational efficiency.  This masterclass will focus on data and improvement.

Hosted by Professor Tim Briggs, Chair of Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) and NHS England’s national director for clinical improvement and elective recovery, and Jane Rooney, GIRFT head of specialist implementation, this masterclass will inform how data on the performance of elective surgical hubs can be obtained.   They will discuss why understanding the importance of data and using it to drive an improvement approach and methodology, is essential in identifying opportunities for improvement , as well as identifying potential areas to learn from and share.

We will hear examples from the following two hubs implementing data-led improvement strategies and learn how their approaches align with the principles of NHS impact.

  • Huddersfield Royal Infirmary – Elective Surgical Hub (Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS FT) - Emma Mooney and Amy Shedden (clinical operations managers for transformation and modernisation),  will present a case study of their Specialty Theatre User Group (STUG) improvement meeting process.
  • Freeman Hospital Elective Surgical Hub (The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS FT) - Caoimhe Doherty, matron, will present a case study of their colorectal improvement programme.

These masterclasses are for all MDT working in elective hubs, clinical and operational management.

The joining links will be sent by separate email prior to the event.
