Difficult Decisions: Exploring the Mental Capacity Act and clinical decision making for people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

This workshop, hosted by the South West NHS England Learning Disability and Autism Programme, aims to explore complex clinical decision making in the context of the Mental Capacity Act for people with PMLD. We will discuss how we apply the existing legal frameworks whilst embedding person centred care and also how we communicate difficult decision making with others.

We have the pleasure of welcoming:

  • Roslynn Azzam; Safeguarding and MCA Professional Lead - NHSE Regional Safeguarding Team (South West)
  • End of Life Education Team - Somerset Foundation Trust

We will also be using breakout rooms and clinical case studies to support meaningful discussion and apply learning.

We welcome anybody with a passion for improving care for people with PMLD by supporting cultural change. This webinar will build on content covered in our previous event; exploring how we hear the voices of parent carers and people with PMLD at the end of their life. Recordings from this event can be found here Profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) - Learning Disability and Autism Programme - South West - FutureNHS Collaboration Platform
