First steps in developing a GIRFT pathway for hot gall bladder services
Mark Cheetham, GIRFT clinical lead for general surgery will discuss the development of a new national best practice pathway for hot gallbladder services.
In this session, Mark will discuss the importance of operating promptly the importance of operating promptly on patients with cholecystitis and acute pancreatitis and discuss the principles of pathways to support the timely treatment.
We will hear best practice examples from:
- Ish Ahmed, general surgery consultant at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and
- Stuart Mercer, clinical lead for upper GI at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
We will also hear from Saurav Chakravartty, consultant upper GI and bariatric surgeon at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust who will present an example of capacity and demand modelling.
