GIRFT webinar: From first contact to secondary care: optimising pathways for patients with spinal conditions

Mike Hutton, GIRFT clinical lead for spinal services, and Andrew Bennett, GIRFT clinical lead for community MSK,are hosting this webinar to discuss best practice pathways from first contact to secondary care for patients with spinal conditions. 

This webinar aims to share best practice for reducing complexity in the patient journey, to demonstrate how data can be used, and to highlight the role and impact of multidisciplinary teams in the management of spinal pain.  

Mike Hutton will demonstrate the Spinal Interface Data (SID) dashboard and explain how its data can be used to identify variation, improve pathway design and support decision-making for patients with spinal pain.

We will also hear from the following speakers, sharing their experiences and reflecting on lessons learned:

  • Boudine Pearce,GIRFT implementation lead, on assessing patients in the primary care setting.
  • David Cumming,National Clinical Director for neurosurgery and spinal surgery, on the virtual MDT and Single Point of Access (SPoA).
  • Michelle Angus, consultant physiotherapist at Salford Royal, and Diarmaid Ferguson, GIRFT community MSK regional clinical lead for North East and Yorkshire region, on the spinal interface in the emergency department.
