Making a difference: a public health approach in a mental health trust
Hosted by Dr Ian Davidson GIRFT national clinical lead for adult crisis & acute care mental health, this webinar will discuss how public health expertise can make a difference in mental health services, helping people get back to living their best life.
The aim of mental health care is to deliver services in ways that are equitable, timely, accessible, effective and sustainable for those who need them. The public health approach requires system-wide solutions from all levels of NHS mental health care to achieve positive outcomes for people affected by mental illness.
This webinar focuses on how mental health trusts can make a difference using public health expertise to help deliver person-centred care and ensuring the negative impacts of mental disorder are tackled early and well.
We will hear from the following speakers discussing how this can be approached:
- Dr Kathryn Faulkner, consultant in public health at Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, will discuss what is a public health approach in a mental health trust.
- Catherine Parker, consultant in public health at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust who will present a case study of the application of public health in a mental health trust.
- Dr Jean Strelitz, senior researcher at The Royal College of Psychiatrists will share tools to support providers.
