Working together to increase the use of virtual wards

 The GIRFT virtual wards clinical leads, Dr Shelagh O’Riordan, Dr Sarah Mercer, Dr Rajiv Sankaranarayanan and Maria Parsonage are hosting this webinar to discuss the newly updated virtual wards guidance for clinicians, which highlights key advice and steps to improve patient choice and care.

This guidance supports the use of virtual wards to care for more patients in their home, or care home, and has now been updated to reflect NHS England’s new virtual wards operational framework.   It has been refreshed to reflect current thinking, including the step-up, step-down models outlined in the framework and information on broadening virtual ward services.

In this webinar, the clinical leads will be presenting a summary of the updated guidance, explaining how their virtual ward reviews are undertaken, and discussing some key challenges. We will also hear examples of good practice helping to address those challenges.
