In consideration of the impact of the Joanna, Jon and Ben report and the growing awareness of the need for transformation in the way we provide service provision for people with a learning disability and autistic people, we are happy to announce a group of seminars provided by Helen Toker-Lester and our South West Personalisation team.  The seminars have a strong personalisation focus, will address what good looks like and consider how we feel the fear and do it anyway.  All the sessions will be underpinned by a human rights approach.

The seminars are part of the ongoing work across the South West to support the development and delivery of the Learning Disability and Autism Programme, Building the Right Support, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and the refreshed Autism strategy. They are being run virtually and are open to commissioners, carers, advocates, and people working in services.

The focus for this seminar will be: Human rights and the law influencing colleagues across the system to uphold and promote them.

Bookings will be available until 12 noon on 2nd December 2021 and numbers will be limited to 50 attendees per seminar.

The details of the other seminars are listed below:

  • Personalised care and support planning & using personal budgets seminar on 11th January 2022
  • Feel the fear and do it anyway seminar on 28th February 2022
