Independent NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) Training: getting it right first time

We would like to share with you a fantastic opportunity of a joint Independent CHC Training for health and social care colleagues across the Derby and Derbyshire footprint, which will be available in October and November 2025.

This Independent CHC Training has been designed for all qualified Social Workers including SPD’s, SPW’s, SPED’s and TM’s and NHS staff.

Sessions, covering some practical guidance to help you in your important work, will be delivered by Jane Reynolds, Independent Chair, NHS England (London Region) Independent Review Panel, online via Microsoft Teams.

Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.

Aim of the session: To maintain and develop the knowledge and skills of the participants regarding NHS Continuing Healthcare and to provide an opportunity for participants’ questions to be answered (or identified for future training).

Learning outcomes: Participants will have an enhanced understanding of the matters covered during the session, particularly regarding the expectations of the National Framework, identifying appropriate levels of need in the Decision Support Tool, the construction of robust material about the four key characteristics of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare, and alternative routes to NHS funding.
