Introducing the CAMHS Workforce Design Toolkit

We are pleased to launch the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Workforce Design Toolkit, developed to support systems and services to take a structured, evidence-informed approach to redesigning their workforce. This toolkit has been shaped through national collaboration and grounded in real-world examples of service transformation, helping teams to analyse demand, optimise skill mix, and design sustainable models of care that better meet the needs of children and young people.

At its core, the toolkit supports a shift towards more proactive, preventative, and digitally-enabled ways of working—aligning with NHS priorities around left shift and analogue-to-digital transformation. It provides practical tools, case studies, and step-by-step guidance to help local areas move from insight to implementation, supporting improved access, productivity, and outcomes. We hope this resource will enable teams to take forward meaningful workforce redesign, tailored to their local context, with confidence and clarity.
