Diagnostic services are fundamental to patient care. While demand for tests continues to rise, not every referral offers clear benefits. When patients are sent for investigations that are unlikely to change their management, this can increase waiting times and reduce access for those who urgently need diagnostics.

The Right Test, Right Time campaign, co-developed with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and its members, aims to ensure that every diagnostic test adds value. It supports clinicians to hold the right amount of risk and to request tests in line with NICE guideline — improving patient outcomes, avoiding unnecessary waits, and making best use of diagnostic capacity.

To help trusts adopt effective approaches to demand optimisation, this webinar will showcase a clinically-led programme developed at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The session will offer practical insights into how the team has identified and tackled low value testing, built trust-wide engagement, captured early benefits, and established a comprehensive demand optimisation programme.
