Annual Health Checks and Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag
**Please note that a link to the webinar will be sent to the email you have registered your booking the day before the event.**
Part 1: Learning Disability Annual Health Checks
People with a learning disability often experience poorer physical and mental health compared to other individuals, but this doesn't have to be the case. This disparity in health outcomes is not inevitable and can be significantly mitigated through proactive healthcare measures.
It is crucial that everyone over the age of 14 who is on their doctor's learning disability register receives an annual health check. These regular check-ups are vital for helping individuals stay well by providing an opportunity to discuss their health with a doctor or nurse, and to identify any potential problems early so they can be addressed promptly.
This webinar will be an opportunity to hear about the work that has been taking place to address the importance of annual health checks.
This webinar outlines how ICB colleagues and partners are ensuring the Annual Health Check makes a difference in addressing health issues to create better health outcomes.
Speakers:
Tracey Brennan - Senior Manager Regional Learning Disability Programme and Health Inequalities
With support from regional colleagues TBC
Part 2: Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag
Under the Equality Act 2010, organisations have a legal duty to make changes in their approach or provision to ensure that services are as accessible to people with disabilities as they are for everybody else. These changes are called reasonable adjustments. In July 2023 an ISN was issued to all health and care teams to ensure this data was captured on source systems. We are now moving to the stage where suppliers will develop their systems so that data entered in one health or care setting, will synchronise with NCRS and be shared across all other systems in services where the patient is seen.
This will mean that users only need to enter the data once and patient will only need to ‘say it once’ and every service will be aware.
Recording flags now:
- On your source system: We are aware that many of the suppliers have developed templates for the collection of this data in source systems. Check your supplier websites and training forums for user guides, hints and tips etc. or ask them for help.
- Where not possible on a local system flags, should be recorded Guide to Using the Reasonable Adjustment Flag in NCRS
Training, where local resources are not in place, example eLearning is available.
- connect with the Regional Teams RADF for local information and support.
Engaging with your suppliers Information about suppliers If your supplier is not registered, there is guidance on the page to help you send information to your supplier
Phase 2: Suppliers will develop their software to enable patient flags to be shared across multiple services. The supplier information will include updates on which suppliers have registered, are in the onboarding process or are live. This will enable health and care teams to monitor when they can ask their suppliers to make phase 2 available to them.
Speakers:
Paula Turnock - leading with supplier engagement for the 3 patient flags (RA, CP-IS and FGM). Paula has worked with system suppliers for many years and was involved in the London LHCRE project.
