Lunch and Learn: NHS Blood & Transplant: Improving transfusion services through digital integration
Transfusion 2024 is a five-year programme of activities aimed at improving transfusion practice. Join us for this lunch and learn session brought to you by colleagues from NHS Blood and Transplant.
The session will provide a quick overview of the Transfusion 2024 programme and will then go into more detail on two specific digital integration projects:
- Hospital electronic requesting and NHSBT electronic reporting of fetal RHD and red cell immunohaematology results directly into hospital laboratory information management systems
- Progress on the proof-of-concept strategic approach to support an overall picture of blood stocks across hospitals and NHS Blood and Transplant
The session will explain in simple terms:
- The problems that we were looking to overcome
- The benefits/ drivers for change
- Challenges/ dependences. There appear to be some common themes in digital integration with hospitals
- The approaches taken to resolve these challenges
- Next steps
This session aims to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration with opportunities for you to share your experiences, provide feedback and ask questions.

The session may be of most interest to those working on or about to work on digital integration projects with hospitals but welcomes all colleagues.
