National Consultant Information Programme: Upper gastrointestinal surgery launch event

The National Consultant Information Programme (NCIP) is a portal providing data-driven insights for consultant surgeons working in the NHS, to support improvements in surgical practice. To date, NCIP has enrolled over 130 trusts onto the programme and has activated accounts for over 10,500 consultant surgeons across 11 surgical specialties.

The upper gastrointestinal surgical specialty dashboards in the NCIP portal has been developed by Ian Beckingham, our clinical lead for upper GI.  There are 28 dashboards across upper GI, bariatric, HPM  and hernia repair live in the tool, with a range of long-term metrics to support high quality outcomes.

This event, focussing on upper GI, will demonstrate how NCIP’s data for upper and lower GI surgical procedures can support consultant gastrointestinal surgeons in appraisal, revalidation, and quality improvement.

The upper gastrointestinal surgery webinar will be hosted by Sir Norman Williams (Chair of NCIP) and Ian Beckingham, NCIP clinical lead for upper GI will explore the benefits of the NCIP portal for gastrointestinal surgeons. We are delighted to be joined by Iain Cameron, president elect for AUGIS, consultant hepatobiliary surgeon. We will also be joined by guest speakers who will discuss the benefits of using the NCIP portal and share how they have utilised NCIP within their trusts.

Over 600 of your colleagues have already logged in to view their surgical activity and outcome data.   We encourage you to review your own activity data now on  https://ncip.model.nhs.uk/

The joining link for the webinar will be sent by separate email nearer the event date.

A webinar focussing on Lower GI is scheduled for the 9th June.  If you wish to attend this event, please register here.
