National maternity operational pressures sitrep - data submission and dashboard webinar
Thursday 11th December 9:00-10:30
By the end of the year, a new daily operational pressures sitrep data collection will be implemented for all maternity and neonatal services. This is planned to replace the existing fortnightly maternity sitrep collection.
This data collection supports a dashboard (accessible to all services, ICBs and regions) for two purposes with different timelines:
- From 15 December - provides a sitrep report for NHS England’s national oversight of maternity and neonatal safety pressures for monitoring performance and perinatal quality oversight.
- The Midlands has already implemented a fuller data collection to show maternity services’ OPEL status to support a regionally agreed Operational Pressures Escalation Level (OPEL) framework. This is for the purpose of arranging mutual aid between maternity services. Once other regions have finalised their escalation approaches, they may choose to extend the sitrep data collection to support this in future.
The sitrep (and extended OPEL) data fields can be viewed on our dedicated NHS Futures webpage.
In readiness for the roll-out of the sitrep data collection, we are hosting a support webinar for NHS staff. This webinar will train maternity and neonatal colleagues in the data submission process, accessing and navigating the dashboard and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
The North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NE CSU) will offer technical support during implementation NECSU.maternitysitrep@nhs.net (active from Monday 15 December only)

Please note that the link to join this webinar will be sent out by 5pm on 10th December.
