National Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) Quality Improvement Webinar

17 November 2026 2:00pm – 4:30pmGMT (+00:00)
Location TBC

Building on learning from national quality reviews and the Paediatric Hearing Services Improvement Programme (PHSIP), this workshop will bring together paediatric audiology service and team leads to explore common critical challenges, reinforce standardised approaches to VRA assessment, and strengthen local quality assurance processes.

Designed as a practical learning and improvement event, the webinar will provide attendees with evidence-based guidance, examples of good practice and actionable approaches that can be implemented within services to support high-quality VRA testing.

The webinar is aimed at Paediatric Audiology Team Leads/Service Leads and up to two paediatric audiologists from each service. We strongly encourage representation from all paediatric hearing services across England to support shared learning and facilitate implementation of the workshop's key recommendations.

The session will include:

  • Environment, estates and equipment requirements, including room acoustics, visual setup, Stage A checks, calibration and targeted history taking.
  • Standardised clinical procedures and approached to quality assurance throughout testing.
  • Decision-making in complex cases, including minimum discharge criteria and adaptations for children with additional needs.
  • Leadership, governance, incident management and responding to non-conformities in paediatric hearing assessment.
