Background
The Women’s Health Strategy reported that women felt health professionals were not listening to them when accessing gynaecology care. Women reported that they felt unheard or misunderstood, symptoms are often dismissed, and health professionals lacked cultural awareness and knowledge to deliver effective care.
In response to this, NHS England (East) Elective Care Improvement Team are rolling out a region-wide training programme to improve quality of care in local systems and maximise effectiveness of women’s health hubs.
More information and recordings and slides are available on our Futures pages.
Purpose
It is intended that the training programme will support health professionals to deliver high quality non-complex gynaecology care in the community with the aim to improve the patient journey, increase access to services and support shared decision-making during consultations.

- Update healthcare professionals (GPs, Practice Nurses, Sexual Health Practitioners, Pelvic Health Specialists and other primary care clinicians) working in primary care on new developments in clinical practice
- Share knowledge of best practice and recommended pathways
- Strengthen collaborative working across community, primary and secondary care
- Signpost to available resources and services that improve gynaecology care outcomes for diverse population groups
