NHS England London Region Safeguarding Conference 2019

NHS England (London Region) are hosting the annual Safeguarding Conference on 1^st July 2019 in The England Suite at The Kia Oval cricket ground.

This conference is likely to attract over 350 delegates from across the health and care economy in London, including all the lead Safeguarding Children and Adults professionals working in the NHS across the capital.

We are keen to ensure that there is good representation from other safeguarding partners including the Police and Third Sector. We are also keen to have a good range of frontline health and social care professionals such as Acute and Mental HealthTrust hospital-based clinicians, Community practitioners (HV’s, DN’s, CPNs’, SW’s, AHP’s) and Primary Care practitioners such as GP’s, Practice Nurses, Dentists, Community Pharmacists and Optometrists.

The theme of this year’s conference is "exploitation". This issue runs through so many safeguarding concerns across the lifespan. We aim to have an interesting range of speakers covering topics such as ‘Safeguarding in a digital world/online exploitation’, exploitation in human trafficking & modern slavery, gangs and county lines, domestic violence and abuse, grooming and radicalisation and vulnerabilities associated with homelessness and other disenfranchised people in our communities. There will also be a legal literacy update from an expert relating to forthcoming changes to the Mental Capacity Act/DoLS.

We also plan to have several stalls showcasing some of the brilliant and innovative work from across the safeguarding system within London CCG’s and Providers.
