The purpose of this session is to launch the document ‘A Guide to Meeting the Statutory Health Needs of Looked After Children through a Standard Approach to Commissioning and Service Delivery’ and its examples of best practice.

The session will also present an overview of the unwarranted variation and the potential impact in health service commissioning and delivery to meet the health needs of looked after children.

The Standard Approach document has been developed with the aim to improve the health outcomes of Looked After Children (LAC) across England by reducing the unwarranted variation in the health delivery and commissioning arrangements for this group of vulnerable children.

Lyn Parsons, Project Manager for Unwarranted Variation for Looked After Children, worked in partnership with members of the LAC Forum to co-produce and consult on each element of the document in March 2017, with wider National Consultation across the Regions in September 2017.
