NHS Violence Reduction Academy Webinar - Learning from the London Vanguards

24 July 2024 10:30am – 12:00pmBST (+01:00)
Virtual (Microsoft Teams Live)

The NHS Violence Reduction Academy is pleased to invite you to our upcoming webinar Learning from the London Vanguards on Wednesday, 24th July from 10:30am - 12pm.

The Vanguard model of care provides psychological support to children and young people (aged up to 25 years old) impacted or at risk of violence, and is underpinned by the national Framework for Integrated Care. The focus is on a multi-system community model that engages with young people, providing interventions and where necessary access to mental health clinical support. Key to the success of the model is partnership working between VCFSE organisations and the NHS.

There are 12 national Vanguards, three of which are currently being piloted in London. The London Vanguards are delivered across 13 boroughs and have supported approximately 750 young people to date.In addition, the Vanguards provide programmes for parents/carers and have supported over 2,000 professionals to improve their practice. An independent evaluation is being undertaken by the Child Outcomes Research Consortium who are part of the Anna Freud Centre.

The learning event, chaired by Martin Griffiths (London Clinical Director for Violence Reduction), will showcase themes across clinical leadership and delivering care, innovation in practice and the service user experience. The agenda will include:

  • Welcome, context setting and an overview of the Vanguard model
  • Leadership in clinical practice sharing common themes across mobilisation, developing partnerships and delivering interventions
  • Hearing the user voice perspective from a young person with lived experience
  • How the Vanguards are working in partnership to provide access to safe housing
  • Bespoke support for young women and girls experiencing CSE

It will be a great opportunity for health and care professionals to learn more about how the NHS is working to address such an important topic.

We look forward to you joining us.
