This is a free conference for anyone who wants to be involved in shaping the future of Social Prescribing in the north east

Following successful North East Regional Social Prescribing Network Conferences held last year there has been a growing movement across the region to position social prescribing as a cornerstone for creating good health and wellbeing for our communities.

This event will build on this work by bringing together people from health, local government and voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors to continue the conversation, explore the benefits of social prescribing and plan how to spread social prescribing.

This is an exciting time for social prescribing. The Government’s Loneliness Strategy states that all GP’s in England will be able to refer patients experiencing loneliness to community workers offering tailored support to connect people to community activities and voluntary services by 2023. The NHS Long Term Plan reinforces this by stating that over 1,000 trained social prescribing link workers will be in place by the end of 2020/21 with the longer term aim that over 900,000 people are able to be referred to social prescribing schemes by 2023/24.

Who should attend?

The event will be of interest to representatives from clinical commissioning groups, voluntary organisations, local authorities including social care and public health, general practitioners, academics, community groups, and community organisers.

Why should you attend?

The event and workshops will be participative, will help to build the case for social prescribing regionally and share emerging best practice and learning.

The day will provide opportunities to learn about the latest national and local impact evidence, consider the spectrum of models available and think together about how we can mainstream social prescribing in a sustainable way.

What will you gain from attending?

  • Enhanced understanding and knowledge of what social prescribing is, the different models of social prescribing and how they work.
  • Share regional and national good practice and generate new ideas.
  • Hear about different methods of measuring impact and project evaluation
  • Gather the latest national and regional evidence
  • Understand where to find guidance on how to commission social prescribing projects

This event is funded by NHS England and The National Lottery Community Fund.
