NHS England has committed to making social prescribing link workers available to people in every GP practice across England and to increasing the number of link workers over the next five years. With the recruitment of Primary Care Network (PCN) link workers well underway, we need to ensure that we optimise this opportunity to impact positively on health and well-being in the North West by addressing health inequalities; whilst ensuring new link workers feel supported and connected within their roles.

Following successful North West Social Prescribing Network Conferences held over the past few years, there has been a growing movement across the region to position social prescribing as a cornerstone for creating good health and well-being. This event will build on this work by bringing together people from health, local government and voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors to continue the conversation. The event will include national and regional personalised care and social prescribing updates and the opportunity to attend workshops. There will be a networking lunch that will provide the opportunity to meet key organisations who are helping to drive forward social prescribing in the region.

This is a free conference organised by the North West Social Prescribing Network. It will:

  • Provide updates on regional and national developments and insights into the future for social prescribing
  • Support a better understanding of how social prescribing can contribute to reducing health inequalities and support well-being
  • Develop ideas for partnership working including approaches to supporting and engaging with primary care networks
  • Provide opportunities to participate with interactive and engaging workshops that will help develop approaches to planning and delivering social prescribing
  • Share good practice and generate new ideas to support sustainability
  • Networking lunch
