Operationalising an Elective Single Point of Access
Operationalising Elective SPoA – Creating a single, safe and effective route for Advice and Guidance requests and elective referrals
The NHS Medium Term Planning Framework sets a clear expectation that from October 2026 all NHS providers delivering RTT consultant‑led care implement a consultant‑led, multi‑professionally delivered elective Single Point of Access (SPoA) for all Advice and Guidance requests and elective referrals (excluding urgent suspected cancer), at specialty or sub‑specialty level, across at least 10 high‑impact specialties., ensuring appropriate and consistent clinical triage.
The session will help operational and clinical colleagues to understand the intent behind the framework requirement and the benefits of an elective SPoA model, along with general updates on areas of progress in eRS that will support the model..
