Event Overview:
This full-day, in-person training event is designed to empower Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMAs) and Professional Nurse Advocates (PNAs) with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead and support Quality Improvement (QI) within maternity services. Through a blend of theory, practical exercises, and peer collaboration, this workshop will explore key QI methodologies and leadership strategies tailored to the PMA role.

Topics Covered:

  • Fundamentals of Quality Improvement: apply QI tools and methods, including PDSA cycles, driver diagrams, and measurement for improvement.

  • Systems Thinking: Identify opportunities for change and understand the bigger picture to improv safety and quality

  • Explore the MOMENTS framework to understand how to embed safety culture and reflective practice into daily work

  • Coaching and Facilitation Skills for improvement: develop supportive coaching and facilitation techniques to enable effective team improvement

  • Overcoming Barriers: Leading, Engaging & Sustaining Change- Explore leadership behaviours and engagement strategies to sustain improvement and create a culture of learning

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the day, participants will:

  • Understand and apply core QI tools and techniques
  • Strengthen their role as leaders and facilitators of change
  • Be equipped to support and sustain QI initiatives within their teams
  • Build connections with a regional network of PMAs, PNAs and QI champions
  • Learn about the MOMENTS framework to embed safety culture into daily practice
