Recruiting people with lived experience: Findings from a peer-led research project

23 November 2022 2:00pm – 3:00pmGMT (+00:00)
Virtual (Teams invite will be circulated prior to the event)

A key workstream of NHS England's Health and Justice Inclusive Workforce Programme is facilitating the recruitment of people with lived experience. Breaking Barriers Innovations were commissioned by NHS England health and justice to develop and use a lived experience evidence base to increase employment and skills opportunities for ex-offenders in a local area that has experienced a lot of deprivation. This work has been co-designed with people lived experience trained as peer researchers.

The evidence base collected has been developed into an action plan that will be adopted by skills providers, employment support agencies and anchor employers in the area. The action plan has also been developed into a wider template to transfer learning from the research with the aim of being used as part of NHS employers drive for a more inclusive workforce.

The research will also include a high-level review with NHS England to assess how to best support the recruitment of people with lived experience strategically for an ICS, with a view to being able to share learning across regions.

This event will present the main findings and recommendations from the peer led research with a discussion on how we can start to share and implement this learning nationally.

Target Audience: Open to all
