NHS England & NHS Improvement (London Region) Safeguarding Reforms Workshop

5th September 2019 – Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel

The NHS England & NHS Improvement (London Region) Safeguarding Team are organising a Safeguarding Reforms Workshop for all Safeguarding Children’s Leads across the region. The workshop will be delivered by the National Safeguarding Children Reforms Facilitator (Department of Health & Social Care), Liz Balfe, and our Head of Safeguarding for London, Nicky Brownjohn.

The format of the workshop will include lectures, group work and a plenary session. There will be five spaces in the room where delegates will be seated according to their corresponding STP: NWL; NCL; NEL; SEL, and; SWL.

The sessions will provide an overview on the reforms including the publications and any good practice identified. It will also cover safeguarding partnerships and the CDOP process.

Group work will include delegates having a discussion among each other within their STP-based groups, to come up with innovative ways to do things a differently in the face of the new reforms. Delegates will be encouraged to discuss good practice within their STPs and share tips/make recommendations on ways of working with others. Delegates will also be invited to share their fears and hesitations as we move into a new way of working.

The plenary session will include an open-forum Q&A session where delegates from each of the STPs will have the chance to ask questions about the regional and national positions from Nicky and Liz.

Finally, we will end the workshop by thinking about how we can collectively showcase the excellent work that is underway in London in relation to the reforms, with a special emphasis on the London Safeguarding Children Board.
