Senior Intervenors and Senior Children Intervenors: How they support discharge from mental health inpatient hospitals for children, young people and adults with a learning disability or who are autistic

The role of NHS Senior Intervenors and Senior Children Intervenors is to work with local systems to establish and oversee a robust plan to support discharge from both long term segregation and mental health inpatient hospital.

This webinar will explain how local systems can use this role to support people facing challenges or barriers to discharge wherever they are in the system.

Senior Intervenor’s and Senior Children Intervenor’s who supported the successful national pilots are available for ICBs to commission directly via NHS IMAS.

This webinar aims to:

  • Describe the role of the SCI/SI’s
  • Hear from ICB, provider collaborative, local authority leads and family carers about the impact this role has had in local areas.
  • Share the learning from the national pilots and explain how it has improved outcomes for children, young people and adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic.
  • Give colleagues an opportunity to ask Senior Intervenors and Senior Children's Intervenors questions.
  • Explain how ICBs will be able to access the SCI’s/SI’s after August 2024.

The webinar will be led by Sue North, Deputy Director for Children and Young People with a Learning Disability, Autism and SEND.
