We would like to invite you to an event for nurses and midwives at 8B and above from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The purpose of this event is to enable career progression for nurses and midwives from ethnic minority backgrounds by igniting confidence, highlighting opportunities, harnessing system support, showcasing best practice, working with and challenging the system and our senior leaders to deliver measurable step change.

The event will be part celebrational and part looking to the future to see what further action is required to accelerate improvement in recognising and enabling career progression for nurses and midwives from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Speakers will include Ruth May (Chief Nursing Officer - England, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent (Chief Midwifery Officer - England, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Wendy Irwin (Equalities Lead, Royal College of Nursing, Policy and Public Affairs), Sue Tranka (Deputy Chief Nursing Officer – Safety & Innovation, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Hilary Garratt CBE (Deputy Chief Nursing Officer - Professional and System Leadership, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Angela Knight Jackson (Head of Nursing Development Programmes, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Dr Habib Naqvi MBE (Director, NHS Race and Health Observatory), Wendy Olayiwola (National Maternity Lead for Equality, Professional Midwifery Advocate, NHS England and NHS Improvement), Mike Adams (National Lead, Royal College of Nursing) and Paul Reeves (Head of Nursing: Education and New Roles, NHS England and NHS Improvement).
