The importance of inclusive job planning
As part of NHS England’s work to support consultants and SAS doctors and improve service delivery, we are running a webinar series on Medical Job Planning best practice and learning. Topics covered so far include high impact actions for medical job planning improvement, culture change, non-cancer MDT meetings, SPA and service level job planning. Each webinar lasts 45 minutes to an hour around lunch time, and we welcome all NHS staff involved in medical job planning to attend.
Our next webinar will take place on 13 February from 12.30-1.30 pm and will cover the topic of ‘The importance of inclusive job planning’ and will have a focus on specialist, associate specialist and specialty doctors (SAS). This webinar is aimed at clinical leads involved in and responsible for SAS job planning, as well as SAS doctors who are job planned.
The national team published some guidance on medical job planning and SAS doctors in October and you can find it here - NHS England » Medical job planning improvement guide. This sets out the considerations that should be taken when job planning SAS doctors, a workforce group that forms a significant portion of the medical workforce. Unfortunately, stakeholder engagement and research shows that job planning is not always an inclusive process that takes into account all backgrounds, skills and experiences. The national team therefore wants to present a set of principles for making job planning an inclusive process for all medical workforce groups. You will also have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions to some of our lovely SAS representatives and clinical colleagues.
Please register using the link below and forward to any colleagues you think will benefit from attending. We hope to see you there!
