Unpaid Carers Bi-Monthly Lunch and Learn Webinar- Young Carers in Space

You are invited to register for our Unpaid Carers Bi-Monthly Lunch and Learn Webinar: Young Carers in Space, taking place on Wednesday 22nd July 2026, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

Our bi-monthly Lunch and Learn webinars bring together carers and professionals from across the country in an informal setting to share learning, exchange ideas, and explore ways to improve the identification and support of unpaid carers.

Join Ana Graça, John Bangs and Carly Ellicott as they introduce Young Carers in Space, a creative, co-produced resource developed with young carers to bring their experiences to life.

Using storytelling, imagination and a space-themed adventure, the project helps professionals, families and communities better understand the experiences of young carers, supporting earlier identification, more meaningful conversations and more inclusive support.

Developed through workshops with young carers and charities, the resource is a powerful example of co-production in action.

The session will explore how the story uses a space adventure to examine themes including:

• Caring responsibilities
• Friendship and resilience
• Feeling different or "invisible"
• Identity, belonging and support

The webinar will also highlight Carly's ground-breaking research into Young Carers in Early Childhood and the Young Carers Illustration Project, demonstrating how creative approaches can help raise awareness and improve understanding of young carers' experiences.

The book was included as a CBeebies Bedtime Story, read by actress Natalie Cassidy in May as part of the BBC’s Caring Matters Week, which highlighted unpaid and young carers.

This was the first CBeebies Bedtime Story centred on young carers’ experiences.

Note: Ana, John and Carly have kindly offered a FREE  copy of the Young Carers in Space  book to all attendees following the session.

The session will be chaired by Sian Harris, Experience of Care Policy Lead – Unpaid Carers, NHS England.
