Using GIRFT’s best practice pathway and guidance to improve care for children with abdominal pain

5 October 2022 (13:00 – 14:00)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Join us in this session to learn more about GIRFT’s recent best practice pathway and guidance for children presenting with acute abdominal pain and appendicectomy, and how it can help to ensure consistent standards of care diagnosis and treatment.

Professor Simon Kenny (NHS England’s national clinical director for children and young people and GIRFT clinical lead for paediatric general surgery and urology), and Dr Rachel Harwood (paediatric surgery registrar at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and GIRFT academic clinical editor for the pathway) have worked with a cross-specialty group of 35 clinicians to agree the guidance and pathway, which also aligns with algorithms used by the 111 service to help reduce inconsistency in early decisions.

Join them in this webinar to discuss the importance of fostering a population-based approach to improve the outcomes of children with abdominal pain, and to take a closer look at the key components of the pathway, the care of children in a non-specialist hospital, and how Model Health System data can be used to identify areas for improvements.
