Virtual Wards Qualitative Evaluation with Patients and Unpaid Carers
Registration is now open for the Virtual Wards Qualitative Evaluation with Patients and Unpaid Carers Community of Practice (CoP) webinar on Wednesday 18 June 2025 from 13:00 to 14:00.
The Strategy Unit (Midlands and Lancashire CSU) have carried out the first national qualitative research exploring the experiences of patients, unpaid carers, and families using virtual wards, for NHS England. Eighty people – 56 patients and 24 carers – participated in in-depth interviews, recruited from diverse wards, including frailty, ARI, heart failure, and general medicine pathways.
At this session, the Strategy Unit will present key findings from the evaluation, covering:
- Patient and unpaid carer’s experiences of each stage of the patient pathway, including benefits and challenges of virtual wards
- Recommendations for virtual ward providers on improving patient and carer experience
- Learning for future research and evaluations
As well as hearing about the research, there will be opportunities to discuss the findings and ask questions.
At this time, we can only accept registrations from colleagues with an nhs.net, gov.uk or other health or social care work email address.
If you wish to attend future webinars and have selected that you would like to be added to all sessions, you do not need to register for separate virtual wards community of practice sessions.
