Ward Accreditation Quality Improvement Day: London Region NHSE&I Nursing Directorate
Ticket sales finished: 17 November 2019 5:30pm
The NHSE and I London Nursing Directorate are holding an event supporting ward accreditation and peer review in London. This is an improvement programme aimed at supporting the development of programmes in all London trusts.
The initiative aims to build on the preliminary work undertaken with the national ward accreditation ‘expert faculty’ convened by NHS Improvement earlier in 2019 which defined 5 factors which are important in trusts developing effective schemes:
- Central improvement team
- Organisational improvement method
- Ward accreditation framework
- Culture/team based working focus
- Peer review process
The objective of the first day is to explore the factors, share experiences of developing programmes and then to define the areas for further review for each trust. The proposed agenda is:

To help trusts clarify their top 3 priorities and by the end of the day: · Rate yourself against the ‘5 principles’ · Your top 3 priorities and next steps? · What are your strengths? · What are your areas for development? · What support would be helpful (examples to be given e.g. action learning sets) · How can you work with other Trusts to share learning and development? |
3.45pm | Expert faculty panel To share and discuss the outcomes of the Priorities and next steps session |
4.15pm | Summary, next steps and close |
4.30pm | Close |
In the second phase of the programme, Trusts will then be supported though facilitated ‘action learning sets’ to further develop their programmes. The learning sets will be populated by trusts with similar priorities or objectives.
We are developing this support in parallel with the work undertaken by the NHSE and I National Nursing Directorate who published the ‘Guide to developing and implementing ward and unit accreditation programmes'
The event will take place on Monday the 18th of November at the Coin Street Conference Centre, 108 Stamford Street, London SE1 9NH and we are inviting trusts to send up to 4 staff involved in their ward accreditation programmes including thir programme leads and ward staff.
